All About Ashley!

Hi, my name is Ashley and I am a 21 year old girl who is living with Turner Syndrome. I live in Rexburg, Idaho but I am originally from North Carolina. I love to play tennis, read (I am totally obsessed with Harry Potter!), and I love to write. I am a nursing major at Boise State University and I just finished my second year there. I really love it there, and I love being a student and learning new things and having those experiences that only college students can have. I have the most amazing boyfriend ever, I have an amazing family and friends and I have a pretty amazing life!
I found out that I have Turner Syndrome when I was a Freshman in High School. I went to the doctor to get a physical so that I could play tennis for the high school team and the doctor noticed that I was in the 3rd percentile height-wise for my age. He ordered a Karyotype to be done and the Karyotype came back positive for Turners Syndrome. That was a relief to my parents because there were so many other possibilities of what could have been wrong with me. I remember the night that my parents told me. I didn't grasp what having Turner Syndrome meant, but I remember being told that I wouldn't be able to have kids and crying, that's every little girls dream to be a mother and I was being told I may not get that chance-it was devastating.
Well that's a little bit about me! I hope you enjoy this blog! I am writing it with one of my best friends (Brittany) who is pretty awesome who I met at a Turner Syndrome conference the year I was diagnosed with Turner Syndrome and we hope that by reading this, it will let you see the world through the eyes of a girl with Turner Syndrome!
